The Main-Kinzig District and Kutina have been linked by a long-standing partnership that goes as far back as 1972. However, the official Agreement on Friendship and Partnership was signed only on 6 October 1992. Among other issues, it defines as follows:
“The free community of peoples in a peaceful Europe can be achieved and strengthened to last only by close and friendly relationship of people. Getting to know each other is a prerequisite to pull down all language and culture barriers between the people and make them become a living integral part of the common European culture. With this purpose in mind, Main-Kinzig District and the Town of Kutina have intensified their partnership made between the then districts of Hanau and Kutina.”
In their common interest, the district of Main-Kinzig and Town of Kutina agree to:
- assist and promote the meetings of the people of the two regions;
- assist and promote visits of associations, societies, schools, youth groups, cultural incentives, companies, trade, crafts, agriculture and unions;
- provide for mutual visits and performances of music and singing groups, athletes, artists and youth groups as well as promoting tourism;
- initiate exchange of experiences at all levels and assist each other;
During some past 15 years, the cooperation has intensively comprised various programs in the fields of culture, sports and business.
The most important among these is International Youth Summer Work Camp that takes place every year in another country or region, partner of Main-Kinzig. In view of this, Kutina has been the host of two youth summer work camps, whose participants were young people of 15 to 18 years of age from Germany, Hungary, Italy, Russia and Kutina.
Every year Kutina also participates in programs of seminars for the Kutina tradesmen, practical work of young economy graduates in Main-Kinzig banks, brass bands festivals, etc.
